Pat West

1933 — 2026

Chattanooga, TN

Thomas Patrick “Pat” West, 92, of Chattanooga, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2026.

From the age of seven, Pat contributed to his family’s business by painting, an experience that instilled in him a lifelong appreciation for hard work. As a young man he excelled in baseball and was scouted by the Chattanooga Lookouts while still in seventh grade. He worked for Combustion Engineering for twenty-five years before retiring. Pat’s inventive spirit led him to create the Perk-O-Baste, a practical cooking device that reflected his curiosity and ingenuity. In his free time he found joy in classic automobiles, spending many hours admiring, discussing, and working on them.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Cunningham West, and his siblings Patsy Lou West, Pearl West Smith, Isaiah Deloy West, Reverend Joseph West, Dexter Floyd West, James Wallace West, Elizabeth Ball, and Geneva Devine.

Pat is survived by his children, Mary Charlotte West, Katheryn (Glenn) Herron, and Patti (Greg) Greenlee; his grandchildren, Billy Herron, Eric (Denise) Herron, and Chrissy (Beau); several great-grandchildren; and his brother, Paul West.
