Pamela S. Byler
February 21, 1946— March 7, 2026
LaGrange, IN
Pamela S. Byler, 80, of LaGrange, Indiana, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born on February 21, 1946, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to Louis E. Hedges and Ruth A. (Smith) Conrad, Pam moved to LaGrange as a young girl. She graduated from LaGrange High School in 1964 and married Eldon L. “Eldie” Byler on November 28 of that same year. The couple celebrated 61 years of marriage last November.
A devoted homemaker and the steadfast center of her family, Pam found joy in caring for her loved ones and hosting gatherings at her home and pool. She maintained an impressive collection of Pepsi memorabilia, enjoyed snowmobiling with her family, bowled in a women’s league for many years, and proudly called herself the “Garage Sale Queen.” An avid scrapbooker, she preserved countless family memories through photographs and faithfully hosted the annual family Christmas party. She also loved planting flowers around her home and pool. A longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Pam remained deeply devoted to her faith and family. She cherished her role as grandmother, attending her grandchildren’s sporting events with pride, and treasured the family vacations and travels that allowed her to see the country with those she loved most.
She is survived by her husband, Eldon “Eldie” Byler of LaGrange; daughter Kimberly Gust of LaGrange; son Tim (Doug Gibson) Byler of Wolcottville; grandchildren Derek (Danna) Pearson, Lindsey Baker, Dylan Gust, and Paige (Dalton) Rayman; great-grandchildren Emarie Baker, Mea Pearson, Hunter Pearson, and Kai Gust; sisters Sherry (Rick Martin) Schneider of Wolcottville and Terri “Toots” Rose of LaGrange; brothers Dennis Hedges of LaGrange and Christopher Conrad of LaGrange; and stepbrother Randy Conrad of Goshen. She was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather Dale E. Conrad, brother Daniel L. Hedges, stepbrother Ronnie Conrad, and sister-in-law Vernie Hedges.
