She passed away peacefully surrounded by family.Pam Smith was born July 21, 1947, in Montevideo, Minnesota. She married the love of her life, Roger Smith, on August 5, 1967. Through the years they lived in Minnesota, Iowa, Oklahoma, and finally Texas. In 1985, they made Del Rio "home." Pam spent her life passing on her love of learning to thousands of students during her career in education. Much time in her later years was spent participating in various organizations, she was actively involved in Sacred Heart Church, Garden Club, Republican Women, New Century Club, and her cherished bridge group, The Dizzy Dames. She loved spending time with Roger, traveling, swimming and reading.Pam is survived by daughters Sara Candela (Marco), Mia Smith (Rick), grandsons Joshua Smith (Amber), Corbin Candela, and Oliver McGuire, great grandchildren Aubrey and Saegan Smith. She is also survived by brothers Chuck Vomacka (Shari) and Paul Vomacka (Julie) and beloved brother-in-law Steve Smith.The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the many friends who supported her in recent months – driving her to treatments, bringing meals, and, most importantly, sharing their time and love.One of her greatest sources of support was Father Pius and the family is forever grateful for his compassion and constant presence. His ability to bring her peace and brighten her day was truly unmatched.The visitation will be held on Sunday, March 22, 2026 from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM; recitation of the holy rosary at 6:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 2020 N. Bedell Ave, Del Rio, Texas.Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 23, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 307 E. Losoya St, Del Rio, Texas.The interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
