Karen Selena Hill, age 58, passed away peacefully at her home in Holbrook, New York on March 11, 2026, after a courageous battle with breast cancer. A proud 9/11 first responder and retired New York City Police Officer, Karen lived a life defined by service, faith, resilience, and unwavering love for her family.
Born on December 17, 1967, in Brooklyn, New York, Karen displayed a strong sense of determination and compassion from an early age. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree, graduating cum laude from the State University of New York Empire State University. She devoted many years to serving the people of New York City as a police officer, with her courage and commitment most evident in her role as a 9/11 first responder.
Outside of her career, Karen found her greatest joy in her faith, family, and the simple blessings of life. A devoted member of True North Community Church, she drew strength and guidance from her beliefs. She loved traveling, working on her home and backyard, and creating a warm, welcoming space for those she loved. Above all, she cherished being a mother to her daughters, who were the center of her world. She poured endless love, encouragement, and wisdom into their lives, remaining a constant source of strength and support.
Karen is lovingly survived by her daughters, Quadina F. Hill and Sabrina M. Levy; her brother, Keith Hill; and her sister, Kimberly Hill. She was preceded in death by her parents, Horace Smith and Pauline Hill. Her life remains a testament to perseverance, compassion, and faith, leaving behind a legacy of courage, devotion, and love that will continue in the hearts of her family and all who knew her.
