He was predeceased by: his parents, Burman Phillips and Kate Catherine Roop Phillips; and his brothers, David and Donald. He is survived by: his children, Keith Phillips (Becky) and Kim Hurst (Gene). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 13th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery (5550 Bagging Plant Rd, Dublin, VA 24084).
