Osvaldo Cifoni

1939 — 2026

Philadelphia, PA

Osvaldo A. Cifoni, a longtime resident of St. Monica’s Nursing Home in South Philadelphia, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026. Born in Italy, he carried a lifelong passion for knowledge, culture, and the arts. He was the devoted husband of Maria T. (Rossetti) Cifoni and the loving father of Joseph Cifoni.

Dr. Cifoni spent much of his career as a professor, teaching Social Economics, Mathematics, and five different languages. A deeply knowledgeable man, he found great joy in learning and in sharing ideas with others. Outside the classroom, he was an accomplished musician who loved playing the piano. Those who knew him remember him as an altruistic and thoughtful person who gave generously and quietly to others, rarely seeking recognition.

Above all, Osvaldo was a good husband and father whose presence and guidance brought strength to his family. He faced health challenges with remarkable resilience and courage, remaining a fighter until the very end. He will be remembered with love and gratitude by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
