Oscar Cochran, affectionately known as Doc, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2026, in Fayette County, Kentucky. Born on September 2, 1935, in Madison County, Kentucky, to the late Cecil and Arebell Marcum Cochran, he lived a life marked by deep affection, quiet joy, and steadfast faith. His warm charisma and gentle spirit touched everyone he met, creating lasting bonds within his community and family.

Doc shared 23 years with his loving partner, Joyce Brinegar, who remained a constant source of companionship and love. He was a devoted father to his daughters Renee Bowman (Wesley) and Pamela Luster (George), and he continued to guide and cherish them even after the heartbreaking loss of his daughter Judy Rogers (Jeff). He took great pride in his role as grandfather to Ashley Bowman, Heather Spangler, Andrew Rogers, and Brittney Parsons, and he remained a loving presence in the lives of his 12 great-grandchildren: Ava, Emma, Anna, Jasper, Jackson, Ellanor, Ellis, Xavier, Serenity, Zoey, Lilee, and Lainee. He was preceded in death by his grandson Michael Bowman.

He was also preceded in death by his siblings Cecil “Dude” Cochran, Johnny Cochran, Donnie Cochran, and Ruth Hutchins. Doc is survived by his brother William “Bill” Cochran (Wanda), his sister Faye Baker (Ellis), and many special nieces and nephews who will carry forward the memories of his kindness and devotion.

Doc found simple pleasures in tending his garden, where he delighted in the visits of birds and squirrels, especially his regular companion Earl the Squirrel. A faithful member of his church, he valued the fellowship and spiritual community it provided. His enthusiasm for square dancing reflected the rhythm, connection, and laughter that defined his approach to life and relationships. He will be remembered for his genuine warmth, his strong faith, and the loving legacy he leaves behind in the lives of all who knew him.
