Orvis C. Rowe

1946 — 2026

Adamstown, PA

Orvis C. “Chuck” Rowe, 80, of Adamstown, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at Reading Hospital in West Reading, Pennsylvania.

Born on January 14, 1946 in Fleetwood, Chuck was the son of the late Hilbert L. and Arline M. (Schildt) Rowe. He married the love of his life, Virginia A. “Ginny” (Kessler) Rowe, on October 16, 1965 at Rosedale Reformed Church in Laureldale. The couple shared 60 devoted years together.

Chuck served his country with honor as a Specialist 5 in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He worked as a mechanic and shop foreman at Lee Heffner Ford, at Instant Whip Foods, and as a maintenance supervisor at Reading Tube for 24 years. He found great joy in skiing, tinkering with anything mechanical, playing Sequence, and traveling—especially the many motorhome trips to Penn State, Watkins Glen, Graceland, and other destinations. He cherished weekends spent with Ginny and their friends, listening to music and enjoying honey whiskey, but nothing meant more to him than time with his children and attending the school and sports events of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Ginny; his children, Kevin T. Rowe and his wife Denise C. (Valentino) of Bern Township, Kimberly A. (Rowe) Smith and her husband Edward J. of Exeter Township, David T. Rowe and his wife Wendy E. (Zimmerman) of Fleetwood, and Jamie C. Rowe and his wife Karen L. (Bolig) of Wernersville; grandchildren Brett and his wife Lauren, Kaitie, Lauren, Ryan, Sean, Payton, Ashlyn, and Kaelyn; and great-grandchildren River, Raine, Bodhi, and Josie. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Preston T. Rowe, in addition to his parents.
