Orlando, WV

Orvil "Junior" Arnold Smith, Jr., 69, of Orlando, West Virginia, passed away on March 15, 2026, at WVU Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. Born on February 17, 1957, in Weston, he was the son of the late Orvil A. Smith, Sr., and Willa P. Titchenell Smith. He married Karen Suzanne Posey on June 6, 1975; she preceded him in death on January 3, 2022.

Junior served three years in the United States Army before returning home to build a life rooted in hard work, family, and the land he loved. He spent 33 years as a school bus driver for Lewis County Schools, safely transporting generations of local children, and later drove for Hardman Trucking for six years. His true passions were farming and working on his beloved old Ford trucks, often alongside his son in the garage. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, who brought him great pride and joy.

He is survived by his son, Jeremy Smith of Orlando; his daughter, Karri Riddle and her husband Tom of Orlando; grandchildren Bailey Smith, Makayla, Jozie, Noah, and Bryar Riddle, Alexus, Lyssa, and Aaron Potter, and Michael Pumphrey, Jr.; great-granddaughter Sylvia Riddle; brother William Smith of Kansas; several nieces and nephews; and April Sims, whom he regarded as his own daughter. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Bonnie Duffield.

A private burial will take place at Pleasant Valley Cemetery on the family farm in Orlando.
