Sachse, TX

Oren Merritt Peacock, Jr., 87, of Sachse, Texas, passed away on March 10, 2026. To know Oren was to know strength, steadiness, humility, and a quiet humor that could soften even the hardest day. He lived with purpose, led with integrity, and loved without condition.

Born on March 29, 1938, in Waco, Texas, to Oren “Tax” Peacock, Sr. and Dorris Frey Dyer Peacock, Oren grew up surrounded by a large and lively family. His childhood on the land taught him the values he carried throughout his life: hard work, showing up for family, making your way with what you have, and finding reasons to laugh no matter the circumstances.

He graduated from Waco High School in 1956 and earned his degree from the University of Texas College of Pharmacy. What began as a soda jerk job grew into a distinguished career. Oren rose from pharmacist to Senior Vice President of Operations for Eckerd Drug Corporation and later served as Vice President and Director of Government Affairs for CVS, representing fourteen states. Throughout his professional life, he remained the grounded man from North Waco who believed in doing more than expected and helping others.

Oren gave generously of his time and leadership to his community. He served nine years as President of the Lorena ISD School Board and was appointed twice to the Texas State Board of Pharmacy, serving two terms as its President. Nationally, he served as President and later Chairman of the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy. Quietly and generously, he also supported many individuals in pursuing their education, believing strongly in opening doors for others.

Above all, Oren cherished his role as a family man. He married Elizabeth Warren Robinson on August 1, 1967, and together they raised three sons, Mark, Steve, and Matt. He delighted in his titles of Dad, Papa, Papa-O, and Uncle-O. He treasured moments with his family on Texas trail rides, coaching from the sidelines, building fences, working cattle, exploring Florida beaches, and sitting together on the porch.

Oren and Elizabeth made their home in Sachse, Texas, where they shared deep friendships and served faithfully at First United Methodist Church in Garland.

He is survived by his wife Elizabeth; their three sons and daughters-in-law; ten grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his infant brother Bobby Dill, and his beloved sister Linda Frey Peacock VanDenBerg.

Oren leaves behind a legacy defined by the people he lifted, taught, and loved. His steady presence, generosity, stories, and deep faith will be remembered by all who knew him.
