Ophelia Bass Bell

Mrs. Ophelia Bass Bell, age sixty-nine, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at her home in Rougemont, North Carolina. Born in Durham on June 4, 1956 to the late James Edward and Juanita Bass, she spent her life in the Rougemont area, where she built a home filled with love and family.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Kenneth W. Bell; her son, Kelvin Marcel Bass of Wilmington, North Carolina; three grandchildren, Jejuan Robert Bass of Durham, Amber Rakel Bass of Raleigh, and Kain Robert Bass of Wilmington; and one great-grandchild, Marley Lanise Bass of Durham. She also leaves behind her brother, Joseph Bass and his wife Michelle of Durham; three aunts, Jannie B. Davidson of Durham, Lucille B. Bradley of Severn, Maryland, and Queen B. Travis of Washington, DC; her sister-in-law, Barbara Jean Webster of Durham; and many other loving relatives and friends who will cherish her memory.
