Oma McIver ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Knotts Funeral Home - Sanford on Mar. 14, 2026.Mrs. Oma Lynn McIver, age 76, of Bear Creek, NC, transitioned to eternal rest on Friday, March 13, 2026, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill, NC.ObituaryOma Lynn Dowdy McIver was born February 19,1950, born to the late Omer Jack Dowdy and Mary Frances Headen Dowdy.Oma was a native of Chatham County, where she was educated in the Chatham County school system where she received her high school diploma. She worked as a supervisor with Gold Kist for many years. She was a faithful child of God worshipping and praising him even during her final transition.Oma Lynn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, auntie, cousin and friend. She cherished her family immensely and worked hard to keep the family together through hosting dinners at her home with her good soul food cooking. After the passing of her mother, Oma Lynn took on the role as the Matriarch of the family. She took that role seriously, as she tried to continue the same traditions that her mother instilled in her. Oma Lynn was compassionate and always there to comfort others during their time of need. She had a zest for helping others. She enjoyed attending church functions, cooking and she couldn't resist a good yard sale.She was preceded in death by her brother Larry W. Dowdy and sister Cathy Ray Marsh and a special auntie Mary Francis Cheek (Aunt Maine) who passed away two days prior to her death.Oma leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted husband of thirty-two years, William Roger McIver, Goldston, NC; daughter, Vickie Dowdy, Bunnlevel, NC; three grandkids, Darian Williams, Goldston, NC, Brandon Williams (Taylor), Winston-Salem, NC, and Amiyah Farrar, Fayetteville, NC; one great grandson, Taylin Tru Farrar, Fayetteville, NC; two brothers, William Earl Dowdy, Goldston, NC and Terry Dowdy, (Michelle) Fayetteville, NC; two sisters, Erma Priscilla Dowdy of Sanford, NC, and Francine Dowdy, Siler City, NC; one godson, Kamron Jack Dowdy, Fayetteville, NC; one brother-in-in law, Kenneth McIver (Maryland) Sanford, NC; a sister-cousin, Ann Dowdy Chisholm; her best friends of over 30 years, Denise Williams and Delphine Marsh; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends."We do not own copyrights to the background music."Thank you for helping us protect the families and communities we serve.Professional services entrusted to Knotts Funeral Home - Sanford, NCTo plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
