Olivia Lobato Camarena, 55, of Deming, New Mexico, passed away on March 15, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on December 25, 1970, in San Agustín del Pulque (La Noria), Michoacán, Mexico, to Valente Lobato and Cristina Camarena, Olivia possessed a special charisma from a young age and had a natural gift for making friends with everyone she met. She moved to the United States in 1992, first living in Uvas Valley, New Mexico, before settling in Deming in 1996, where she resided for the rest of her life. She became well known in the community for selling her red and green tamales and for the genuine joy she shared with those around her. Olivia left behind a legacy of compassion, marked by her huge heart and her constant willingness to help others.
She is survived by her children, Javier Lobato, Luis (Esmeralda) Mendoza, Gloria (Juan) Lobato, Edith Moran, Julio Moran, and Francisco Moran; her parents, Valente Lobato and Cristina Camarena; eight grandchildren; and seven siblings. Olivia was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Jesus “Chuy” Aguilar, and her best friend, Gloria Chavez.
