Medaryville, IN
Olive Pearl Dalka, 97, a longtime resident of Medaryville, Indiana, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2026, at the Pulaski Health Care Center in Winamac. Born on September 27, 1928, in Winamac to Willard Orlando and Ruth Hazel (Sims) Hauser, she grew up in rural Star City and graduated from Star City High School. On May 4, 1947, she married Charles William Dalka at the First Christian Church in Winamac. The couple made their home in Medaryville, where they raised two daughters and shared many happy years together, particularly enjoying camping. Charles preceded her in death on December 5, 1998.
Olive was a talented seamstress who worked for 24 years at the Medaryville Garment Factory before retiring. She found great fulfillment in volunteering at the Medaryville Senior Center, especially with the Food-Share Organization. She also took quiet pleasure in reading and cross-stitching. Above all, she was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother whose gentle presence and devotion will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughters, Ruth Ann VonHolten of Rossville, Indiana, and Karen Sue Wagner of Wanatah, Indiana; her grandchildren, Wendy (Dave) Bordner, April (Kirby) Wuethrich, and Corey (Jessica) Wagner; four great-grandchildren, Savannah (Caleb), Sydney (Aiden), Abigail (Jared), and Cale; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles; her brothers, Willard Arthur (Bess) Hauser, Bruce Edgar (Marcella) Hauser, and James Keith (Loraine, Dovie, Betty) Hauser; her sister, Mary Ann (Chuck) Webb; her niece, Julie Ann Hicks; and her nephew, Jeff Hauser.
