On June 23, 1963, she married the love of her life, Joe, beginning a marriage that spanned more than six decades and was filled with partnership, laughter, and unwavering commitment.Olga was preceded in death by her sister Sandy and Sandy's husband, Frank. She is lovingly survived by her devoted husband Joe; her son Dennis (Kathleen Walny Syrkowski); her daughter Karen (Lou Ampola); her cherished granddaughter Addison (Jeffrey Hammer); her sister Ilda; her brother Don (Lynn); her brothers in-law Walter (Audrey Syrkowski) and George (the late Sheila Syrkowski) and many extended family members and dear friends whose lives were enriched by her kindness and warmth.Throughout her working years, Olga held several positions, dedicating the longest chapter of her career to the Macomb County Health Department, where she supported case workers in delivering vital social services to individuals and families throughout Macomb County. She took pride in knowing her work helped those in need and strengthened her community.Olga embraced life fully and joyfully. She and Joe traveled extensively across the globe alongside their cherished friends the Abrahamsson's, the Bontomasi's, and the Zybura's, creating treasured memories and lifelong bonds. Closer to home, she enjoyed family outings to casinos across Michigan, always making delightful use of her beverage and buffet credits.A gifted and devoted crafter, Olga was an avid knitter who also loved needlepoint and sewing. Even as her eyesight declined, she faithfully attended her Tuesday knitting club and treasured her time with dear family friend Carolyn. Her perseverance and dedication to friendship were hallmarks of her character.Above all, Olga's greatest joy was caring for those she loved. She expressed her love best through a well-prepared meal, a welcoming home, and heartfelt conversation around the table. Of course no meal would be complete without a generous sampling of Gran Marnier, Amaretto or Sambuca. Her warmth, humor, and quiet strength will be deeply missed by all who knew her.The family will welcome well-wishers at Wujek-Calcaterra Funeral Home, 36900 Schoenherr Road, Sterling Heights, Michigan, on Friday, March 6, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to share memories of Olga at 6:00 p.m. that evening.Olga will be committed to the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at St. Michael Catholic Community, 40501 Hayes Road, Sterling Heights, Michigan, with a funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 7.In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you express your condolences by making a memorial donation in Olga's memory to either:https://www.cholangiocarcinoma.orgOrhttps://www.brightfocus.org/macular/macular-degeneration-research/To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
