Joe Weaver and Bro. Dustin Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Belah Cemetery in Jena, LA, under the direction of Young's Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home at 9AM until service time at 10AM.Octavia was born on Thursday, December 27, 1934 in Harrisonburg, LA and passed away Thursday, March 12, 2026 in Jonesville, LA. Octavia was the matriarch of her family, a fierce, head-strong, an independent woman who never backed down from anything. She carried herself with strength and determination, but her greatest pride and joy was always her family. Octavia loved them deeply and made sure they knew it every day. Nothing made her happier than having everyone together, especially during the holidays when she would proudly host family gatherings. Her home was always full of warmth, laughter, and the smell of good cooking.She loved feeding those she cared about and took pride in her old-school traditions. Octavia was known for making homemade jellies and jams to share, along with her delicious pecan pies and dumplings that everyone looked forward to. Cooking for her family was one of the many ways she showed her love.During her 91 years, Octavia's life was richly filled with the love and joy of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the many family members and friends who surrounded her. She leaves behind a legacy of strength, tradition, and unconditional love.She is reunited with her husband, Junior Barker; father, Edwin Coy Taylor; mother, Lillian Morris Nugent; brother, Ed Taylor; sisters, Mary Gough and Nancy Brewer; daughter, Sandra Kay Floyd; and father of her children, Charles Woodie Floyd.Those left to cherish Octavia's memories are her son, Charles Floyd of Jonesville, LA; daughter, Ann Sandidge & her husband Bobby of Acme, LA; sons, Lester Floyd & his wife Rhonda of Jena, LA and Darrell Floyd & his wife Sherria of Jonesville, LA; daughter, Brenda Pritchard & her husband Scotty of Jonesville, LA; brothers, Albert Taylor & his wife Paula of Baton Rouge, LA and M.C.
