Nova R. Brubaker

Nova R. Brubaker, 92, of Altoona, formerly of Duncansville and Canan Station, passed away early Tuesday afternoon at her residence with her son by her side. Born in Cross Keys, Duncansville, she was the daughter of the late Ord G. and Lista C. (Hoover) Brubaker.

On July 9, 1955, in Roaring Spring, she married Harold W. “Jase” Brubaker, who preceded her in death on April 4, 2012. She is survived by her son, Ronald W. of Altoona, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their extended families, and her very dear and faithful friend, Annette Romani of Altoona. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Clifford E., Elwood G., Elvin W., Regis E. and Brice D., and a sister, Reta Jane.

A graduate of Hollidaysburg High School, Class of 1952, Nova was a longtime member of Carson Valley Church of the Brethren in Duncansville, where she taught Sunday school for several years. In her later years she attended Leamersville Grace Brethren Church. She worked in her earlier years at the former Brown Brother’s Potato Chip Factory and Puritan Sportswear, both in Altoona, before devoting herself to life as a homemaker.
