Levittown, NY
Norman John Thomas died peacefully with family by his side on March 14, 2026 at the Village Green Senior Living Community in Levittown, New York, at the age of 96. A longtime resident of Levittown, he was born on February 13, 1930. He attended St. Peter the Apostle High School in New Brunswick, New Jersey, where he lettered in track and football, and later graduated from St. Peter’s University, where he studied marketing. He pursued a master’s degree at New York University and served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Selected afterward for the Counter Intelligence Corps, he developed specialized skills that remained a source of quiet pride throughout his life.
Norman enjoyed a long career in marketing research for several pharmaceutical firms. Active in his younger years at St. Bernard’s Roman Catholic Church in Levittown, he found great joy in simple pleasures and time spent with family. He loved the water and often brought his loved ones to Jones Beach, while many weekends at home were filled with DIY projects. An avid traveler, he created lasting memories with his wife Peggy on trips to Hawaii and Europe, as well as family stays at Swan Ware Cottages in New Hampshire. A brief chapter of boat ownership also became the stuff of cherished family stories.
Above all, Norman was a quiet and gentle man who cherished his role as husband, father, and grandfather. He took deep pride in the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren, boasting about them with quiet delight. He is survived by his wife of nearly 72 years, Margaret (Peggy) of Levittown; his sister, Bernardine Jolly (Jack) of Tarrytown, New York; his children, Bob (Regina) of Reston, Virginia, Pamela (Steven, deceased) Wegert of Melville, New York, and Cliff (Lori) of Garden City, New York; eight grandchildren, Christopher (Caitlinn), Matthew (Jessica), Mikaela, Chelsea, Gabriella, MacKenzie, Christian, and Luke; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Helen, and his three brothers, Jimmy, Donald, and Richie. Norman was our Dad and Poppy, and we will miss and remember him forever.
