Norman E. Swain

Norman E. Swain

Scituate, MA

Norman Swain, 82, of Scituate, passed away suddenly on March 5, 2026. Born and raised in Norwell, he was the son of the late Norman and Evelyn (Johnson) Swain. A hardworking professional painter, Norman owned and operated his own painting company for many years. He took great pride in his craft and in the relationships he built through his work, forging lifelong friendships that meant a great deal to him and earned him the respect of many throughout the community.

Norman loved the New England Patriots and the game of golf. Whether on the course or surrounded by family and friends, he was always ready with a story, a joke, or a laugh. He had a way of lightening the mood in any situation and could always be counted on to lift those around him. Known for his big heart, he made everyone feel welcomed, seen, and loved. His hugs were warm and genuine, the kind that made people feel instantly at home. Affectionately called Norm, “Stormin’ Norman,” Uncle Normy, and Grampy, he brought laughter, joy, and life wherever he went.

He spent many memorable years on Nantucket, Massachusetts, a place he loved dearly and where he always felt he truly belonged. In later years, he also enjoyed spending time in Naples, Florida.

Norman is survived by his six daughters, Tracy Swain, Robin Violandi, Danielle Swain, Khrystyne Swain, Wesley Swain, and Whitney Swain; his siblings Robert, John, Janet Atone, and Tina Ruediger; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He will be remembered for his deep love of family, his humor that could brighten any room, and his ability to bring people together. His larger-than-life presence, generous heart, affectionate hugs, and warm smile will be deeply missed by his daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and many friends. The world was simply brighter, happier, and more fun with him in it, and his one-of-a-kind spirit will never be forgotten.
