Norma Maniccia

Norma Maniccia March 14, 2026 Born at home in Olza di Morfasso, Piacenza, Italy on May 5, 1935, and passed on March 14, 2026, at her home in Torrington, CT, the second daughter and tenth child of Maria Sartori Tiramani and Vittorio Tiramani, Norma Tiramani Maniccia often joked that she was made from spare parts. She came to Torrington in 1960 to visit her cousin and Godmother, Louise Bonvicini and soon met and married the love of her life, Carlo J. Maniccia. Beginning her new life in the United States, she quickly learned the language and proudly became a US citizen. Norma worked many years at the Torrington Company, Needle Division, and, upon retiring from there, worked many years at Adam's House Health Care before permanently retiring. With her quick wit and non-judgmental character, she easily made friends and lasting relationships wherever she went. In her free time, Norma was rarely idle. When not working, she gardened, canned, made her own pasta, sauce and filling for the best ravioli ever (earning her the beloved title of Auntie Pasta), sewed her own clothes, knit or crocheted a great number of afghan blankets, most often gifted to babies, children and adults she truly cared about. She loved to travel and enjoyed her countless trips to Montreal, southern California, Florida, Cape Cod, Italy, Fatima in Portugal, Lourdes in France and multiple trips to Jerusalem. Her greatest joy, however, was lending a hand to layers of nieces, nephews and cousins, always watching over and guiding these little ones with love, pride and a great sense of humor. She and Carlo were monumental influences in so many lives. A devout communicant of St. Peter's Church, St. John Paul the Great Parish, she was a long-standing member of the Holy Rosary Society and also served as Vice President of St. Anne's Society. In addition to her parents, Norma was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Carlo, her sister Giovanna Tiramani Scrabbi, her brothers Giuseppe, Pierino, Pietro, Giovanni, Cesare, Carlo, Rev. Arturo and Aldo Tiramani, her nephew Gian Franco Scrabbi, in-laws Mario and Dorothy Maniccia, Josephine and George Calderoni, Armand and Romilda Maniccia, Elda and John Rosenbeck, Mary, Chet and John Torneo, Victoria Maniccia and Angelo Maniccia. She will be greatly missed by her sisters-in-law Ann Maniccia and Frances Maniccia plus numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends in the United States, Italy, Canada, Australia and England. Norma's family is immeasurably grateful for the tender care given to her by Siena, Karen, Michelle, Eileen, Carra and especially Dee and Sue, who spent the most time with her daily. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 20, 2026, with the cortege leaving at 10:30 a.m. from Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, CT to St. Peter Church (St. John Paul the Great Parish), 99 East Main St., Torrington, CT for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Francis New Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home.
