Norma June Stokes

1936 — 2026

McAlester, OK

Norma June Stokes, age 89, of McAlester, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026, surrounded by her beloved family.

Born on November 18, 1936, in McAlester to George Emmett and Lilly Leona (Frank) Kirkland, Norma lived her entire life in the town she proudly called home. She married Floyd Stokes, and together they shared 47 years of devoted marriage filled with partnership and cherished memories. For 20 years, Norma worked at Humpty Dumpty Grocery Store, where her kindness and friendly nature made her a familiar and well-loved presence in the community.

She found simple pleasures in visiting the casino, but her greatest joy came from being surrounded by family and close friends. She treasured moments of laughter, storytelling, and quiet connection that strengthened the bonds she held most dear.

Norma is lovingly survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sheryl and Mark Sehgal of McAlester; her son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Tory Stokes of Houston, Texas; and her three beloved grandchildren, Kinley Velez of Houston, and David Sehgal and Katherine Sehgal of Carmel, Indiana. Her family was the center of her world, and she took great pride in each of them. She will be remembered for her gentle heart, her devotion to family, and the quiet joy she brought into the lives of those around her.
