Boots was 94 years young. She was the last of six children, so her father named her "Caboose" which was shortened to "Boose", then to "Boots".Norma June Thames was born in Coffee County Alabama where she lived until moving to Macintosh Florida where she met the love of her life at age 19. She married Larry Schorfhaar on December 23rd. They had one son Kenneth, who was the light of her life.Boots dedicated 75 years of her life to working and living the Al-Anon principles of life. She helped hundreds of residents of Ocala, often 3 generations of families reclaiming a healthier way of life. She gave tirelessly to others any hour of the day or night sponsoring others with love, encouragement and hope. Her motto was "One day at a time". She was the matriarch of Ocala and being the oldest member, she was still helping her comrades at Life Care Center.Boots stood beside her husband, supporting his talents as a luthier, crafting all types of musical instruments. They did shows all over the state by playing music and bringing joy all around. She and Larry loved to Clog dance. They performed all over the state of Florida. She made friends effortlessly no matter where she went. Larry often said, "everyone loves Boots" and he was right. She also became "Mama" to many.Boots came from a gifted and talented family of musicians and vocalists. Her love of music was rooted deep in her heart. She loved to garden and was well known for her passion for cooking, especially baking cakes.Boot's passing was preceded by her husband Larry, her son Kenneth, her grandson John Dallas, as well as her five siblings.She is survived by her great grandson Bennett Scott Schorfhaar of Leeds, Alabama. Her three nieces, Jayne Pleasants of Atlanta Georgia, Rhonda Thames Thill of Sun City West, Arizona and Peggy Cooper of Naperville, Illinois. Her daughter-n-law Patricia Burcham of Leeds, Alabama. Pat was the daughter to Boots shenever had. Larry's cousin Jan Schorfhaar Garl of Ocala, Florida. Pat and Jan loved and cared for Boots right till the end.As per Boot's wishes, there will not be any funeral arrangements, but a graveside memorial at the family cemetery in Macintosh, Florida at a later date.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
