Claude, TX
Norma J. Bryant, 85, of Claude, Texas, passed away on March 14, 2026. Born on January 21, 1941, in Amarillo, Texas, to Edith Marie (Forguson) and Frank Lee Schmidt, she grew up in the Claude area, attending Claude High School and First Baptist Church.
On October 11, 1957, Norma married her lifelong neighbor and friend, C. M. Bryant, Jr. The couple, who had ridden the school bus together as children, shared a loving marriage that spanned 68 years. Together they farmed the land in Armstrong County, a life they cherished and approached with deep pride and dedication. Norma was also an active and beloved member of the Fairview Community, where she formed many enduring friendships. She worked for fifteen years each at Levi Strauss and Lingerie Allure, known for her strong work ethic and the warm connections she made with others.
Norma embraced life with energy and joy. She loved playing card games, dominoes, and bowling—always eager to win and occasionally willing to bend the rules in good fun. She also enjoyed roller skating and water skiing, bringing enthusiasm to every adventure. Above all, she treasured her family. She rarely missed her daughters’, grandchildren’s, or great-grandchildren’s sporting events and was their most devoted cheerleader, offering unwavering love and support.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents and her grandson, Nick Lewis. She is survived by her loving husband, C. M. Bryant, Jr.; her daughters, Brenda Butler and husband Jimmy, Lynn Lewis and husband Mark, and Nikkole Inman and husband Sam; grandchildren, Brooke VanWinkle, Kirby Godfrey, Matt Butler, Josh Lewis, Spencer Inman, Ike Inman, and Gunner Inman; great-grandchildren, Gracie VanWinkle, Chloe VanWinkle, Molly VanWinkle, Layla Godfrey, Trapper Godfrey, Jett Godfrey, Willow Godfrey, Morgan Butler, Blake Butler, Cooper Butler, Kinslee Lewis, and Hunter Lewis; and a sister by heart, Sandra Davenport.
