Sharon, SC
Norma Bagwell Mowles, 92, of Sharon, South Carolina, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2026, at the home of her devoted brother, Paul Bagwell.
Born in Spartanburg, South Carolina, Norma was the daughter of the late Boyce W. Bagwell and the late Hattie Kate Francis Bagwell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” Mowles, and her siblings, Troy W. Bagwell, Oscar J. Bagwell, Ralph Bagwell, Sunnie B. Brown, Mildred B. Mullinax, and Katherine B. Knox.
In her early years, Norma worked at the TG&Y variety store in York. She later opened her own successful clothing store in Sharon, where she formed many long-lasting friendships with people of all ages. A devoted Christian, she loved the Lord deeply and cherished her church family at Hillcrest Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School for many years, lovingly guiding her students by example and often referring to them as her children. Norma was active and adventurous, always ready for a trip to the beach or mountains. She enjoyed yard work, exercising, and the friendships she made at the YMCA. She found simple pleasures in weekly lunches at McDonald’s, visits to Hamrick’s, and sitting on her front porch with treasured friends, watching the world go by.
She is survived by her brother, Paul Bagwell of Sharon, and many loving nieces and nephews who will carry her memory in their hearts. Her favorite verse, Philippians 4:13 — “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” — stood as a testament to a life of faith, kindness, and quiet strength.
