Nora T. Nelson
April 7, 1955— March 5, 2026
Pelham Manor, NY
Nora T. Nelson, age 70, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2026, surrounded by her children and their spouses. She left behind a world made brighter by her presence.
Born and raised in Pelham Manor, New York, Nora was one of six children. She spoke with great affection of her older brothers Peter, Michael, and Drew, admiring their handsomeness, charisma, and success. She cherished her sister Sarah for her steadfast love, support, and friendship, and held her younger brother William as her lifelong confidant.
Nora dedicated her career to caring for others. After graduating from Boston University School of Nursing in 1977, she worked as a school nurse, a hospice nurse, and an advocate for victims of domestic violence. Defined by deep empathy and a remarkable ability to connect with people from all walks of life, she offered judgment-free acceptance and a sense of home to hospice patients, the homeless, young children, and guarded adolescents alike. In her company, people felt truly seen, understood, and at ease.
Beyond her kindness, Nora brought joy and lightness wherever she went. Her gifted sense of humor and outgoing spirit could disarm any room. Those fortunate enough to spend time with her on Lake Cobbossee in Maine witnessed her impressive water-skiing skills. Above all, her greatest role was as a mother to Ryan Tiffany and Michaela Tiffany. She created a foundation of comfort, safety, laughter, and unconditional love, focusing less on achievements and more on affirming their inherent worth. Ryan and Michaela remain deeply grateful for the way she championed them.
Nora’s warmth lives on through her four grandchildren—Anna Fitzgerald, Liam Fitzgerald, Dylan Tiffany, and Tyler Tiffany—whom she adored. She was preceded in death by her mother, Olive Nelson, and her father, William Nelson.
