McNally of Mahopac, New York, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026, at the age of 78. Her life was one defined by devotion to family, quiet determination, and a love that endured even when memories faded.Nora was born on May 14, 1947, in Russelstown, County Galway, Ireland, the beloved daughter of the late Patrick and Delia (née Farragher) Hughes. Growing up in Ireland shaped her deep faith, resilience, and gentle humor - qualities she carried with her when she immigrated to the United States in 1965.After settling in New York, Nora began working as a bank teller and later met her husband, Thomas McNally. On September 26, 1970, Nora and Tom were married at St. Nicholas of Tolentine Church in Bronx, New York. Nora devoted herself to raising their children with care and steadfast love. Never one to stop learning, she later returned to school and graduated summa cum laude from the Westchester Business Institute in 1995.In her later years, Nora was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. While dementia slowly took her memories, it never diminished the love she gave or the love she inspired in others. Her kindness, gentle presence, and quiet strength live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.Nora was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Hughes. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Tom; son Thomas and wife Elise; daughter Anna and husband Brian; son Patrick and wife Cathy; her cherished grandchildren Katherine, Margaret, Colin, Trevor, Erin, Elizabeth, and Grace; and her sisters Mary DeSilva and husband Richie, Gertie Tighe(wife of the late Mickey), and Teresa Moran and husband Jimmy.Friends and family are welcome to attend a visitation on Saturday, March 21st from 8-9:30AM at the Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home in Mahopac, New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow the visitation at 10AM at St. John the Evangelist Church, also in Mahopac. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, New York.In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Nora's name to the Alzheimer's Association or the Elks National Foundation.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
