Nora Jean Land

Nora Jean Land, age 96, of Pottsville, Arkansas, passed away on March 12, 2026, at Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center. Born on October 17, 1929, in Pottsville to Edgar Apple and Dulcie Hoppis Apple, Nora spent her life rooted in the community she loved. A longtime member of the Pottsville United Methodist Church, she was known for her quiet strength, devotion to family, and steady presence in the lives of those around her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Land; her daughter, Margaret Austin; sons-in-law David Austin, Kelley Austin, and Jerry Allen; and her siblings Ray Apple, Faye Demmitt, twin brother Ora Apple, Juanita Jackson, C.W. Apple, and Virgle Apple, as well as her parents.

Nora is survived by her two children, Carol Allen and Judy Austin; five grandchildren, Cheryl Allen (Beth Costa), Tanya Schroeder (Kim), James Parker (Polly), Jonathon Parker, and Joshua Austin; eleven great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren, with one more on the way; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Her family was the center of her world, and the love she gave them remains her lasting legacy.
