On the morning of March 6, 2026, at the age of 57, Nina passed peacefully, surrounded by her loving family. She was a beloved wife for 35 years, and together with Jay Butler, built a family rooted in the love of Jesus. She was a devoted mother of 3 Children - Emalee, Ethan, and Erin and a proud grandmother to Elowyn Maeve Arroyo and Bennett Davis Butler. Her love extended warmly to the spouses of her children: Stefan Arroyo, husband to Emalee and father to Elowyn; Samantha Butler, wife to Ethan and mother to Bennett; and Bo Barker, husband to Erin. Nina cherished them deeply as part of her growing family, embracing each with the same kindness and affection that defined her life.A Cherished Wife and Loving MotherNina's and Jay's journey together began almost four decades ago, at Oneida High School as they started their senior year in 1986. They married on June 1, 1991, and from those earliest days, Nina's gentle strength and steadfast partnership enriched every chapter of their lives together. Her nurturing heart guided their children through life's joys and challenges, always encouraging them with compassion and an open ear. To her family, she was the heart of their home - her presence a constant source of comfort, her laughter a reminder of the happiness found in togetherness.A Dedicated TeacherFor 16 years, Nina shaped young minds as a first-grade teacher at Oak Mountain Elementary School in Birmingham, Alabama. Her classroom was a place of wonder, curiosity, and acceptance, where each child felt seen, heard, and celebrated. Countless students flourished under her patient guidance, inspired by her creativity and her belief in their potential. Colleagues remember Nina as a mentor and friend - someone who not only taught academics but also imparted life's most important lessons in kindness, perseverance, and joy.A Faithful Servant and Cherished FriendFor more than 20 years, Nina and her husband Jay served side by side at Hunter Street Baptist Church, dedicating their Sunday mornings to caring for three-year-old children. Through their gentle guidance and joyful presence, they helped nurture the youngest hearts, sharing their love and faith with each child they encountered. This ministry was a reflection of Nina's compassion and desire to serve others with grace and humility. Among friends, Nina's compassion and warmth were boundless. She found joy in the successes of others and offered solace in times of need. Her friendship was a gift - marked by loyalty, wisdom, and a generosity of spirit that uplifted all who knew her. Whether sharing laughter over coffee or offering a shoulder during difficult times, Nina's presence was a blessing to many.A Daughter and SisterNina is survived by her mother Pam Davis, her sister Denise York, brothers Christopher, James, and Joel Davis. She is preceded in death by her father Rodney Davis. Nina's mother and father were shining examples of a loving and devoted marriage, that continues to have an impact on her children and their children for generations to come.A Legacy of LoveThough Nina's earthly journey has come to an end, her spirit continues to touch everyone who knew her. Her legacy is visible in the love she poured into her family, the knowledge she gave to her students, the care she offered at church, and the kindness she showed to every friend.
