Nils Anderson

International Falls, MN

NILS F. ANDERSON Nils F. Anderson, 99, of International Falls, MN went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at the Good Samaritan Care Center in International Falls. Nils was born on January 29, 1927, to Andrew Peter and Theo Deborah Anderson (Cleveland) in Koochiching Township (International Falls) where he lived his entire life. In his younger years, he lived and worked on the family farm with his 6 siblings. The family homestead was located near the Jackfish Bay area. He attended Lake Park School in Ranier, MN. He had many fond memories of his childhood and growing up on the farm. He was offered a job in the mill by a neighbor and started his 46-year career with Mando when he was 16. Nils and some of his buddies would often go the Fort Frances and that is where he met his future wife. He married Irene Halus on August 17, 1949. Nils and Irene raised five children during their 50 years of marriage. They are Tom, Theo, Peter, Patty and Pam. Nils and Irene rededicated their wedding vows on August 17, 1974. They also celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 18, 1999, with many friends and family. That same fall, Irene became ill and passed away on December 27, 1999. Nils was deeply saddened and lonely over the loss of Irene. He met Annette Kisner (Patnaude) and they were married on July 6, 2001. As the years passed, Nils and Annette moved from the family home on 12th Street to the Rivers Edge Villa in International Falls and lived there for 8 years. In October of 2024, they transitioned to Northwoods Assisted Living in the Falls, where they celebrated Nil's 98th birthday and Annette's 100th birthday. Nils was a great husband, father, grandfather, friend and neighbor. He served as a strong example of integrity, mentorship and caring. His children remember the many trips to Sand Point in the summer, car rides to Harry Erickson's store to get ice cream and City Beach in Ranier. He also took his family on many camping trips to state parks each summer. The biggest trip was in 1965 with the family renting a camper trailer and pulling it all the way to California and back visiting many sites along the way. Nils enjoyed hunting and fishing and would take his children hunting in the Littlefork and Ray areas and fishing in Canada on Rainy Lake. Nils enjoyed his time working for Mando and Boise and forged many lasting friendships with co-workers in the paper test station. Some of his closest friends from that era of his life were Tom Schaff, Dave Jackson, Roy Johnson, Clinton Clark, Everett Ramsey and many others. Nils was preceded in death by his first wife Irene (Halus) Anderson; parents, Andrew Peter and Theo Anderson; siblings, Axel, Carl, Oskar, David, Emil Anderson; and his only sister, Elizabeth Johnson. Nils was survived by his second wife, Annette Anderson and his 5 children: Tom Anderson of Niquana Niqual, CA, Theo (Dick) Dobie of Kennewick, WA, and their children Joesph Dobie and Christianne Dilworth Johnson and their grandchildren Autumn Dobie, Cullen and Barret Johnson; Peter (Carol) Anderson of International Falls, MN, and their children Laura Zika and Kate Wade and their grandchildren Macy Reller, Allison, Claire, and Lucy Zika; Patty (John) Bujold of Wyoming, MN and their children Ashley Deedrick, Matthew, and Brandon Bujold and their grandchildren Jack and Koda Deedrick; Pam (KC-Keith) O'Brien of Sarona, WI. He will be remembered fondly by his niece, Julie Melander and numerous other nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Ruth (Oskar) Anderson. They were the last two survivors of their generation in the Anderson Family. A Celebration of Life is being planned for the summer, details to follow when finalized. In lieu of flowers, and if you desire, donations are preferred to the family's church of generations, Evangelical Covenant Church, 1631 1st Ave. E, International Falls, MN 56649. Condolences may be left at www.greenlarsen.com. Arrangements are with Green-Larsen Mortuary, Inc.
