Nila Faulkner

March 11, 1935 March 13, 2026

Dayton, OH

Nila Faulkner, a vibrant soul known for her resilient spirit and welcoming heart, passed away on March 13, 2026, in Dayton, Ohio. Born on March 11, 1935, in the small community of Keokee, Virginia, she lived a life marked by dedication, love, and spirited independence.

Nila retired from General Motors after 25 years of devoted service as a job setter, reflecting her strong work ethic and steady resolve. She was remembered for her colorful personality—often ornery yet fiercely endearing—never meeting a stranger and always ready with sharp wit and a warm smile. Deeply engaged in her community, she held a special place at The Patterson, where she delighted in playing Uno with the “Cool Kids,” sharing laughter and camaraderie with those around her.

An artist at heart, Nila expressed her unique perspective through her paintings. She loved the outdoors, finding joy in hunting, gardening, and feeding the ducks at her favorite spots. She had a sweet spot for ice cream and Werther’s candies, which she generously shared with family and friends, a small gesture that reflected her giving nature.

Nila is survived by her son, Larry Faulkner, and his wife Lisa; three grandchildren; her niece, Tracie Koontz, and husband Neal; as well as many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilburn and Louella Bailey; her husband, Billy Faulkner; her siblings, Gary Bailey, Cecil Bailey, Jane Miller, and Irene Upchurch; and her treasured dog, Jenny.
