June 15, 1959— March 9, 2026
Plattsburgh, NY
Nigel "Jay" LeClaire, 67, of Plattsburgh, passed away on Monday March 9th, 2026, at his home in Plattsburgh, NY with his partner by his side, Charlene Mussaw, after a long battle with lung disease.
Jay was born in Vermont on June 15th, 1959, and is predeceased by his father James LeClaire and his mother Patricia Hendrie.
Jay is survived by his long-term partner and love, Charlene Mussaw, son, Josh (Ashley) Howard. His daughter Amanda (Matt) Gohlke, son, Jared (Russell) Branham, his sister, Bonnie (Bobby) Criss, brother Paul (Shari) LeClaire, niece's, Ann Blow (Greg) Ashley Leclaire and nephew Punker Ed McKinley and 5 grandchildren.
Jay was an avid NASCAR fan and was part of many pit crews at the local Airborne Speedway. We are pretty sure he had racing fuel in his blood and was probably better then Dale Earnhardt in his previous life. He also enjoyed gathering with his friends and family and would often burst out a "special song" for those he held near and dear. In his younger years he loved to build and tinker with Model cars. He was a man of many skills and could fix or build just about anything. He worked as a heavy machine operator for the most of his life and was a long-term employee for Ed Garrow and Son's, he took pride in his work and had a knack for attention to detail and "get it done" but get it done correctly.
At the wishes of Jay, there will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to the American Lung Society
