Preserve forever →Nick Hilary Davis Jr.
Chicago, IL
Nick Hilary Davis Jr. was born on May 27, 1938, in Yazoo County, Mississippi, to Nick Hilary Sr. and Mary Davis, both of whom preceded him in death. In 1958, while still living in Yazoo County, he met Doris Murphy, and they were married on January 29, 1960. In January 1966, with their fourth child on the way, Nick moved to Chicago, Illinois, to establish a home and find work for his growing family. The following month, Doris arrived with their three young sons and a new baby soon to be born. In April of that year, he began a long and stable career at Craft Die Casting Co., where he would work for more than forty years before retiring in 2008. Four of his sons later worked alongside him at the same company.
A dedicated and hardworking man, Nick deeply loved his family and led by example. He taught his children the value of a strong work ethic, offered them guidance when they sought it, and provided firm discipline when necessary. With quiet determination, he gave his best to ensure his family had what they needed, raising each of his children according to his own principles and values.
Nick passed away peacefully on February 27, 2026. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-six years, Doris Davis; eight children, Dennis (Desaree) of Yazoo, Mississippi, Victor, Larry, Carolyn (Don), Hilary (Tosha), Raymar, Sonya, and Takeshia; two brothers, Theophlis (Rosamay) of Vaughns, Mississippi, and William (Elizabeth) of Mississippi; twenty-four grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, a special cousin-in-law, Earlean, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
