Neron Paul Hinton, Jr., passed away peacefully after a long illness. Known to family and friends as Paul, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother who lived a life defined by dedication to his family, his church, his friendships, and his work.
Born on May 10, 1938, in Porterdale, Georgia, to Neron Paul Hinton, Sr., and Louise Capes Hinton, Paul earned the rank of Eagle Scout with Troop 207 in Porterdale. He met the love of his life, Alice, in Covington, Georgia, in 1959, and they married in 1961. Together they built a life centered on family, faith, and community.
Paul began his professional career as a counter salesman with Beck and Gregg Hardware Company in Atlanta. His work later took him to the F.H. Lawson Company in Ohio before he returned to Georgia. In 1978, he and Alice founded Hinton Sales, Inc., a business that reflected his strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit. He retired in 2006, proudly passing the company on to his children.
In retirement, Paul and Alice enjoyed traveling throughout Europe and hiking in national parks, the North Georgia Mountains, and along the Blue Ridge Parkway. He cherished time with family and friends, often sharing stories from his childhood in Porterdale during the 1950s. A longtime member of Fairview Presbyterian Church, he faithfully served as a Deacon, Elder, and Trustee.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Alice; his son, Neron (Laurie); his daughter, Abby (Dave); his granddaughters, Ava and Tinsley; his grandsons, Jack and Sam; his brother, Russell (Sandy); as well as several nieces and cousins.
