September 24, 1945— March 11, 2026
Morris, OK
Neoma Faye Hutson Aston was born on September 24, 1945, in Basile, Louisiana, to Lawrence and Lillian Hutson. The youngest of five children, she carried the strong family values and deep capacity for love that would define her life. She graduated from Basile High School and shared her musical talent by playing piano for several churches, an activity that brought her lasting joy.
On April 26, 1969, Neoma married James Perryman Aston in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Their marriage was a true partnership grounded in love, dedication, laughter, and perseverance. Together they built a home centered on family.
Neoma had a remarkable gift for sewing and quilting. Each quilt she created was a labor of love, stitched with patience and care. Those who received them treasured these gifts as pieces of her heart that continue to offer comfort to her family.
Her greatest pride and joy was her family. Neoma and Jim raised four children: Clint Aston of Morris, Oklahoma; Sarah Jane De Leon of Fairfax, Oklahoma; Donna Jean Moore of Fairfax, Oklahoma; and Jo Ellen Sholl of Pawhuska, Oklahoma. Her legacy lives on through her grandchildren, Ronnie Dale Aston, Elizabeth Ann Aston, Andrew Jacob Robertson, B. James Moore, and Dale Perryman Sholl, as well as her great-grandchildren, Harley Lynn Aston, Brilane Patton, Asher Patton, Jace Perkins, Kyler Patton, Kayson Perkins, Riley Patton, Sage Moore, and Asher Dale Aston. Before her passing on March 11, 2026, she welcomed her great-great-grandson, Truitt Walker Morris, bringing another branch to the family tree she cherished.
Neoma will be remembered for her quiet strength, her loving heart, and her unwavering devotion to those she held dear. Through her music, her quilting, and the way she loved her family, she left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. Her memory endures in the lives she touched and the love she gave so freely.
