Nelson Wayne Grube, 77, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 15, 2026. Born on November 6, 1948, to Nelson and Nannie (Worley) Grube, Nelson lived a life marked by dedication, passion, and an unwavering commitment to his interests and community.

A man of many talents and pursuits, Nelson retired from American Standard after a career distinguished by hard work and diligence. Beyond his professional life, he was a lifelong learner who earned multiple degrees, exemplifying his devotion to education and growth. His expertise extended into group counseling, where he provided support and wisdom to those navigating their own paths.

Nelson's love for nature and music brought joy to those around him. As a Master Gardener, he devoted considerable time nurturing the earth, and as a talented guitar player, he shared his musical gift with friends and communities. His affiliation with the band, Swinebone, as well as the Kentuckiana Blues Society reflected his deep passion for music, while his memberships in Lions International and the Single Action Shooting Society highlighted his varied interests. Known for his vibrant personality and sense of humor, Nelson was often described as a "character," a performer who lived life with zest and individuality.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of nearly 50 years, Christine "Chris" (Rosenbarger) Grube, whose companionship was a cherished part of his life. Nelson also is survived by his children, Angela Dunn and her husband James Moffett, and James Dunn and his wife Susanne Forquer, his sister Jolene Grube, as well as several adorable grandcats.

A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions located at 3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m., with burial taking place at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
