Nellie Davenport

Nellie Sue Guy Davenport of Raleigh passed away on March 1, 2026, at the age of 79 at home after a long illness. She was born on May 15, 1946, in Sampson County, North Carolina, to the late Paul Leon Guy of Mingo Township and Bertha Inez Lee Guy of Meadow Township.

In addition to her parents, Nellie was preceded in death by her beloved granddaughter, Casey; her sisters, Margaret Elizabeth Schneider (Bill), Lou Anna Guy, and Pauline Barefoot (Charles); and her brothers, Ollin B. Guy (Pearl), Robert Leon Guy, Roy “Red” Lee Guy, and Jerry David Guy.

She is survived by her sister, Joyce Inez Hammond; her three daughters, Davida Sue Jones (Mike) of Raleigh, Laura Inez Pressley (Mike) of Morrisville, and Dawn Sue Norris of Meadow Township, widow of Wayne Norris; and many loving nieces and nephews. Nellie was a proud grandmother to six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy.

Her loved ones will honor her memory in their own special ways, celebrating the life she lived and the countless memories they shared. The family is deeply grateful to the compassionate staff of Medi Home Health & Hospice for their kindness and support, and they hold special appreciation for Dawn, Davida, and Crystal Lewis, who cared for her with selfless devotion so she could remain at home surrounded by family.
