She was an accomplished gardener whose flowers were the pride of every summer. She loved to needlepoint, creating thoughtful handmade gifts that became treasured keepsakes. Nellie was also a spirited and competitive pinochle player, always ready for "just one more hand."She and her husband Kenny were well known for their love of dancing-gliding across the floor together whenever the chance arose. Nellie enjoyed traveling, fishing, laughing, and gathering with her growing family. Her quick wit, warm smile, and vibrant personality made her a joy to be around.Nellie was born in Miles City, Montana on May 6, 1932, the daughter of Glenn and Edith Pearl. She attended school in Miles City and graduated from CCDHS in 1951. After high school, she worked as a waitress at several local restaurants before beginning a long and dedicated 25-year career at the Miles City State Liquor Store, where she was known for her work ethic, friendliness, and charm.On October 1, 1955, she married the love of her life, Kenny Allen, in Choteau, MT. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and family.Nellie is survived by her children, three sons, Jeffrey G. Allen and his wife Esther of Miles City, MT; Steven W. Allen and his wife Tracy of Glendale, AZ; and Michael Booker Allen and his wife Neicey of Woodsboro, TX. Four daughters, Sheri Lee Willson and her husband Preston of Volborg, MT; Karla Kay Johnson and her husband Anthony of Miles City, MT; Melody Rose Peterson and her husband Bud of Miles City; and Rhonda Rae Erlenbusch and her husband Jeff of Butte, MT, and one sister, Ruth Rathbun of St. Maries, Idaho. She is also survived by 26 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild-each of whom she adored.Nellie was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Edith Pearl; her husband, Kenny Allen; her brother, Allen Pearl; her sister, Mary; and her niece, Linda Steinbaugh.Nellie lived a long, full, beautiful life, and her legacy of love, laughter, and family will live on in all who knew her.In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Nellie's name to Sacred Heart Catholic School in Miles City or Wake Up & Lace Up.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
