Neil John Hopkins

Neil John Hopkins, 42, of Throop, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 9, 2026. Born in Auburn, New York on October 11, 1983, Neil attended Weedsport High School, where he participated in the cross-country, track, and swim teams. He was active in scouting and later continued his education at Onondaga Community College. He was employed by Baxter in Skaneateles Falls.

Neil embraced life with a wide range of interests, including music, camping, hiking, biking, and learning about Japanese culture. Known for his wit and strong opinions, he left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving mother, Mary Caram Hopkins; his sister, Christina Hopkins-Rowe, and her husband, Nathaniel; his nephew, Ethan Hopkins; his maternal grandmother, Elena Caram; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Neil was predeceased by his father, John E. Hopkins; his maternal grandfather, Samuel Caram; his paternal grandfather, John A. Hopkins; and his paternal grandmother, Vivian Richardson.
