Nathan J Cook

October 3, 1971 March 5, 2026

Terre Haute, IN

Nathan J. Cook, born October 3, 1971, in Joliet, Illinois, passed away on March 5, 2026, at the age of 54.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah Cook, and their daughters, Madison, Alena, and Sophia, all of Terre Haute, Indiana. He is also survived by his mother, Sara Bartleson of Coatsville, Indiana, and his brothers, Scott Cook of Coatsville and Corey Cook of Greencastle, Indiana, along with a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Nathan’s early years were marked by frequent moves with his mother, a military nurse, taking the family through parts of Wisconsin, Indiana, and Arizona. Through those relocations, he and his brothers formed an unbreakable bond filled with laughter, misadventures, and lasting memories. In 1987, he met Sarah at North Vigo High School in Terre Haute. Though his family moved to Arizona for a time, the two reunited on July 15, 1992, and remained inseparable. They married on June 6, 1997, and together built a close-knit home where they raised their three daughters, homeschooled them through their early years, and centered their lives around family.

A gifted and endlessly curious man, Nathan earned a degree in business and became a skilled network engineer and systems administrator. He and Sarah successfully ran a telecommunications company in the early 2000s. In recent years, he devoted himself fully to the care of their youngest daughter, Sophia, who has special needs, supporting her with patience, humor, and deep love. Talented in many areas, he was an accomplished guitarist and artist, created a viral video using self-taught special effects that led to work with a Japanese television show, and pursued countless hobbies ranging from restoring cars and crafting chainmail to piloting drones, leatherwork, and memorizing dozens of Rubik’s Cube algorithms. Above all, Nathan cherished time with his wife and daughters. He made Sarah feel beautiful every day, filled their home with laughter, and took great pride in his girls. Evenings spent together on the couch, listening to his daughters’ stories and sharing simple joys, were the moments he treasured most. His family is left devastated by his sudden loss, forever grateful for the love and light he brought into their lives.
