Natasha Shandell Penland

Natasha Shandell Penland, age 51, of Nebo, North Carolina, was reunited with her mother on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at her residence.

She was born in Marion, North Carolina on May 21, 1974, to the late Jackie Penland and Judy Calloway Howie. She is survived by her stepfather, Kevin Howie.

Mom was a lover of others, but most importantly, her family. She enjoyed watching/following Duke basketball and listening to true crime podcasts. She loved the Lord and showed that through her unwavering love and care for others. She cared for her family and loved ones with the utmost effort, love, and compassion. She was wholeheartedly invested in anything that her children were involved with. She was selfless in all that she did and is paying that forward through organ donation, a final reminder of her care and priority towards others. Her absence leaves a great void that can never be filled, but we rejoice in her heavenly reunion with her mama and granny!

Those left to cherish her memory is the love of her life for over 25 years, Derrick Suppes; four children, Whitney Penland, Cody Penland, Austin Penland, and Aleea Patton; one stepson, Andrew Suppes; a sister, Melissa Wilson; a niece, Blake Russell and husband Zach; a nephew, Justin Bartlett, and many other friends and loved ones.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
