Nancy Erbland of Evans, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. Born on June 5, 1931, in Altoona, Pennsylvania, to Carl and Marion Whipple, she grew up in Altoona and Warren, Pennsylvania. She studied nursing at the University of Rochester in New York, where she met and married John Francis Erbland.
Nancy worked as a nurse in Rochester, Danvers, Massachusetts, and at University and VA hospitals in Augusta. A devoted and loving mother, she raised five children and provided compassionate care to her father, Carl, and her husband, John, during their final years. In 2018, she moved to Brandon Wilde in Evans, where she found a warm community and many close friends. A faith-filled, kind, and gentle soul, she was an active member of First Baptist Church of Evans and continued to participate in services through live feeds from First Baptist Church of Augusta. She was also a cherished dog mom to her two rescues, Scooby Doo and Cinderella.
Nancy is survived by her daughter Joanna and husband Lewis Caputa, along with grandchildren Maggie and Mary; son Peter and wife Diane, along with grandchildren Andrew and Daniel; son Mark and wife Cathy, along with grandchildren Courtney, Casey, and Christy; sons Timothy and Christopher; and numerous great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
