Nancy Sue Taulbee

1951 — 2026

Lubbock, TX

Nancy Sue Taulbee passed away on March 11, 2026, at the age of 74. Born on October 26, 1951, in Cincinnati, Ohio, she was the daughter of Betty Drummond and Dale Leonard. From her earliest years, Nancy carried a gentle strength and a giving heart that defined her life.

On February 11, 1972, she married Donald Darrell Taulbee. The couple shared 54 years of devoted marriage, offering one another unwavering partnership and a steady example of love. Nancy was known for her selflessness, always placing the needs of others before her own. She supported her daughters and grandchildren with quiet dedication and spent many years caring for children through her work in childcare. Resourceful and creative, she could make something wonderful from the simplest materials. Though naturally quiet, she possessed a quick wit and gentle humor. She was an avid reader, most content with a book in her hands.

Nancy found joy in baking, filling her home with the aroma of homemade treats, as well as in crafting and crocheting. She loved animals, butterflies, the color blue, a 3 Musketeers bar, and a Polish dog from Wienerschnitzel. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose family remained the center of her world.

She is survived by her husband, Donald Taulbee; her daughters, Carol Ipock and Christie Long; her grandchildren, Vanessa Lancaster, Brittany Lancaster, and Taylor Long; and her siblings, Vicky Jury, Teresa Hilt, and Dale Leonard. Her family will carry her memory forward in the recipes they bake, the books they read, the crafts they create, and in every butterfly that crosses their path. She was deeply loved and will be deeply missed.
