Nancy Louise Slye

Nancy Louise Slye, 84, of Danville, Indiana, passed peacefully at home on Saturday, March 7, 2026. Born on July 17, 1941, in Indianapolis to Herbert and Mary Reinhardt, Nancy graduated from Warren Central High School in 1957 and was a member of the first nursing class at Indiana Central College, earning her degree in 1961. She worked as a registered nurse at St. Francis Hospital in Beech Grove for more than twelve years.

In 1961, Nancy married Richard L. Shepler. Together they raised three children: Lauralee Bates (Stephen Bates), Richard G. Shepler, and Nicolas P. Shepler (Angela Shepler). In 2002 she married Rex Slye, and the couple shared many happy years together in Lapel, Indiana. Nancy took great joy in her grandchildren, Grace Dziennik, Zachariah Dziennik, William Shepler, Anthony Shepler, and Melissa Ritchie. She is also survived by her brother, Richard Reinhardt (Rudy Gillespie).

A longtime member of the Danville United Methodist Church and the Hendricks County Master Gardener Association, Nancy loved hosting dinners for family and friends and cherished time spent with those closest to her. She was an angel on earth to all who knew her and will remain an eternal angel in their hearts and souls. She will be deeply missed.
