Nancy Gardner

Nancy L. Gardner, 89, of Washington, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at her residence, surrounded by her family.

She was born on August 2, 1936, in Peoria, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Bessie Matier Tennyson. She married Paul S. Gardner on August 25, 1951, in Burlington, IA, and he passed away on November 7, 2021.

Survivors include her two sons, Rusty (Sharon) Gardner of St. George, UT, and Michael (Teresa) Gardner of Washington. She also leaves a daughter, Sharon (Daniel) Kauzlarich of Farmington, IL. Her family further includes four grandchildren: Nathan Gardner, Rachel (Matt) Schwender, Paul (Jennifer) Gardner, and Katie (Adam) Stockman, along with seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

She was a dedicated member of Bay View Baptist Church and took pleasure in participating in the Goodtimers fellowship. She enjoyed her retirement after a fulfilling career at Bradley University

Nancy’s funeral is scheduled for 11 am on Friday, March 13, 2026, at Bay View Baptist Church in Washington. Visitation will be one-hour prior to her service. Burial will follow her service at Fondulac Township Cemetery in East Peoria. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Illinois Central Christian School or to Bay View Baptist Church.
