Nancy BoysenApril 7, 1929 - February 23, 2026Nancy Ann Boysen, born on April 7, 1929, in Kansas City, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 26, 2026, at her residence at The Heritage in Sioux City, Iowa, under the compassionate care of Hospice of the Midwest. She leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and accomplishment that will be cherished by her family and friends. A private family service will be held in May of 2026 with entombment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City, Iowa. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is assisting the family with cremation.The daughter of Charles and Myrtle (Chase) Lee, Nancy exemplified the roles of a devoted wife and proud mother. She married James Frederick Boysen on June 22, 1954, in Iowa City, Iowa. Her unwavering commitment to her family was manifested in her tireless efforts raising seven successful, well-rounded, and fun-loving children: James Lee Boysen, Thomas Charles Boysen, Bruce Herbert Boysen, Carolyn "Heidi" Ann (Boysen) McClanahan, David Paul Boysen, Joseph Daniel Boysen, and Andrew Frederick Boysen. Nancy also found joy in her role as a grandmother to 14 grandchildren and a great-grandmother to 15 great-grandchildren.Nancy's educational journey began at Parker High School in Parker, South Dakota, where she laid the foundation for her remarkable academic pursuits. She graduated from the University of South Dakota and went on to achieve her medical degree through both the University of South Dakota and the University of Iowa. Following her extensive education, she completed a rotating internship at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa, showcasing her commitment to her profession. The family moved from Iowa City, Iowa to Sioux City, Iowa in 1954.In addition to her family duties, Nancy actively contributed to her community. She served on the Board of First Federal Savings and Loan and was involved in various organizations including the Junior League and the American Girls Study Group. Her love for music was evident throughout her life, as she continued to study piano well into her young and middle-aged adult years.Respected for her strong work ethic, superb organizational skills, and candid demeanor, Nancy was a beacon of pride for her family. She enjoyed engaging in leisure activities, particularly playing bridge and golf, as well as traveling with her beloved husband, James Frederick Boysen, who predeceased her in October of 2001. Nancy's infant grandchild Thomas Richard Boysen also preceded her in death.Nancy Ann Boysen's life was marked by her deep devotion to her family, her community involvement, and her enthusiasm for learning and leisure, leaving an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to know her.
