Marie, Michigan, died on March 11, 2026, at the Merlin Home in Sault Ste. Marie. She was born on May 24, 1935, in Sault Ste. Marie, to Samuel and Lillian (Jarvie) Roe.Nancy spent her early years living in Pickford, Michigan, and then moving to Sault Ste. Marie. She graduated from Sault Area High School in 1953 and began her career at Central Savings Bank until her retirement in 1989. Nancy married the love of her life John "Jack" McKay, on August 24, 1957. Together they built a beautiful life and raised two cherished children. Nancy and Jack enjoyed many years in Barbeau, Michigan, where they enjoyed the company of family friends, gardening, canning, and attending Holy Family Church. When Jack passed in 2001, she made the decision to move back to Sault Ste. Marie. Nancy enjoyed winters in Punta Gorda, Florida, where she found a new purpose for her love of numbers serving as the treasurer of River Haven Park for many years. She formed many lasting friendships in their community.Nancy loved visiting with family and friends, always offering a listening ear and a warm smile. Her beloved dogs, Keldon and Kelsie were constant companions and brought her great joy.In her final years, Nancy found comfort and community at the Merlin Home, where she was surrounded by caring staff, residents and their families. Many laughs and friendships were formed.Nancy will be remembered for her wit, compassion, dedication to family and the joy she found in simple moments. She created a home filled with love, laughter and welcome. Her presence was a gift in the hearts of those she leaves behind.Nancy is survived by her daughter, Shauna (Casey) MacLaren; daughter-in-law, Cheryl McKay; grandsons, Michael MacLaren, John (Holly) McKay; granddaughter, Stacy (Mike) Rekeny; great-grandchildren, Jayla McKay, John "Carter" McKay, Michael Rekeny, Andrew Rekeny, Cooper Rekeny, and Amerie Enos; brother, Dean (Marjean) Roe, sister-in-law, Linda (Mike) Doyle; and brother-in-law, James (Brenda) McKay.Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, John "Jack" McKay; son, John S. McKay; parents, Sam and Lillian Roe; sisters, Betty (Charles) Bales and Avis (Henry and the late Charles Spivey) Wohlfort; parent-in-laws, John (Tarcil) McKay; father-in-law, Roger Gervias; brothers-in-law, Ron (Joyce) McKay, Robert McKay; and sister-in-law, Shauna (William) Britz.Visitation will be on Monday, March 23, 2026, at Family Life Funeral Homes, 4951 S. M-129, Sault Ste.
