Martinsville, IN
Nancy Alice Broyer, 89, of Martinsville, passed away peacefully at 9:43 AM on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at Meadow Lakes in Mooresville, Indiana.
Born on September 27, 1936, in Hazard, Kentucky, Nancy was one of eleven children born to Fred and Mamie (Duff) Hart. She grew up in Hazard, graduated from high school, and attended Business College. She later moved to Washington, D.C., where she worked for two years as a secretary for the FBI. In 1960, she returned to Indiana to help care for her younger siblings while her mother underwent cancer treatments, and during that time she worked for three years at RCA in Bloomington.
On July 21, 1963, Nancy married the love of her life, Fred Dale Broyer. They shared nearly 63 years of marriage filled with love, adventure, and unwavering devotion. Early in their marriage, she supported Fred during his service in the United States military, and together they spent 15 years traveling and living in many places around the world before settling in Martinsville in 1978. A faithful member of Alaska Christian Church in Quincy, Nancy loved to travel and created many cherished memories on those journeys. She also enjoyed gathering around the card table to play euchre and rummy with family and friends. She was known for her strong spirit, stubborn streak, and fiercely independent nature, but above all she cherished her family and the time spent with them.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Fred Dale Broyer of Martinsville; her children, Scott (Michelle) Broyer of Greenwood and Susan (Brad) Quimby of Smithville; grandchildren Dustin, Jordan (Haley), and Katelyn Broyer, and Allison (Rick) Quimby; and great-granddaughter Cadence Broyer. She is also survived by her brothers, William Colson Hart of Martinsville and Jesse Curtis (Carolyn) Hart of Lebanon; sisters Joyce Ann (James) Benge of Martinsville, Judy (Michael) Clements of Cape Coral, Florida, and Kathy (Kenneth) Burns of Paragon; and many extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her sister Ella Marie Bailey and brothers Schuyler, Paul Edward, James A., and Johnny Wood Hart.
