Nancy A. Smith

Nancy A. Smith, age 70, of Ellendale, Delaware, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2026, after a short battle with leukemia. Born in Wilmington, she was one of five children of the late George E. and Doris A. Foster. A graduate of Christiana High School, Nancy found deep purpose in caring for her daughter Amber, who has cerebral palsy. She delighted in time spent with her grandchildren and remained ever ready to help others, whether people or animals, with quiet generosity and kindness.

She is survived by her daughters, Jennifer Laskowski (Tom) and Amber Smith; her stepsons, Tommy Hurst and Josh Hurst; her beloved grandchildren, Thomas and Hayden Laskowski and Nathan and Benjamin Hurst; her siblings, Carolyn Krah (Raymond) and Daniel Foster (Elizabeth); and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by the love of her life, Thomas Hurst; her sister, Shirley Foster; her brother, Richard Foster; and Richard’s wife, Christine.
