Nancy A. King

Nancy A. King

Passed March 4, 2026

Sharon Center, OH

Nancy A. King, 88, of Sharon Township, passed away on March 4, 2026, surrounded by her loving family at home.

Born in Fostoria, Ohio, to the late Wilbert L. and Viola (Nye) Deer, Nancy looked up to her late older brother, Richard, who left a lasting impression on her as a young girl. She attended grade school in Bettsville, Ohio, where she met the love of her life, James D. King. Married for 53 years, they raised three children: Craig King, Mitch King, and Cynthia (King) Doyle. Nancy poured her heart into creating a warm and loving home filled with music, books, and meals made from scratch. She was a tireless volunteer with local schools, Scouts, Camp Fire, clubs, and countless sports teams throughout the years.

She co-owned Creations of the Past Antiques on the Square in Medina for nearly a decade, and her own home reflected her passion for antiques, filled with beautiful treasures, each with its own character and story. To her six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, Grandma’s House was a place of wonder and comfort. A deeply devoted grandmother and great-grandmother, known affectionately as “GG,” Nancy never missed a birthday, graduation, school performance, or milestone. Her freezer was always stocked with homemade chocolate chip cookies, and she was ever ready to lace up her bright white Reeboks for an adventure with the grandkids.

Nancy was remarkably tough and determined. Even at 88, she completed difficult crossword puzzles in pen each morning, mowed her own grass on her John Deere mower, and built her own garden bed by hand the previous spring. A longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sharon Center, she volunteered regularly in the pantry and contributed her blue-ribbon baking to the Sharon Women’s Club annual bake sale. She was recently honored for 15 years of service at the Oenslager Nature Center. She loved playing the piano, gardening, taking walks, and was a fiercely devoted Cleveland Indians fan. She also enjoyed many years in the Brunswick Hills Ladies Golf League and with the Sharon Women’s Club.

She is survived by her sons, Craig and Mitchell (Jackie) King, and daughter, Cynthia (Rich) Doyle; grandchildren, Brian (Brittny), Lauren (Pete), Matthew (Courtney), Adrienne (Bryan), Katie (Ben), and Olivia (John); and great-grandchildren, James, Ellie, Olive, Connor, Arlo, and Scott. She was preceded in death by her husband, James D. King; brother, Richard G. Deer; and daughter-in-law, Joy King.

Nancy believed the bonds of family were the most important part of life. In her memory, her family encourages others to pause, spend time with loved ones, share a laugh, and cherish every moment together.
