Nancy A. Artim

Nancy A. Artim, née Ballon, of Whiting, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at Munster Community Hospital. She was 72.

Born on October 19, 1953, to Andrew and Helen (Fricko) Ballon, Nancy was a lifelong resident of the Whiting-Robertsdale community. She attended Immaculate Conception Grade School, graduated from George Rogers Clark High School with the Class of 1971, and was a longtime member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Whiting. Proud of her Slovak heritage, she remained deeply connected to her hometown and its traditions. For many years she gave her time generously as a dedicated volunteer at the Legacy Thrift Shop in Highland.

Above all, Nancy was devoted to her family. She is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years, Elvin “Al” Artim; her loving children, Brandon Artim and Jillian (John Ward) Artim; and her cherished grandchildren, Jayden, Josh, and Janna. She was preceded in death by her son, Alan Andrew Artim. She also leaves behind many dear cousins and her devoted feline companions, Felix and Gal Gal. Those who knew her will remember her warmth, her quiet strength, and the steady love she showed her family and community.
